Star Wars has revealed more about the New Republic spaceships introduced in Ahsoka, further retconning the buildup to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The various Star Wars TV shows are exploring a part of the timeline tat's been previously unseen, five years after the events of Return of the Jedi. It had previously been established that the nascent New Republic chose to demilitarize after the fall of the Empire at the Battle of Jakku, but it's becoming increasingly clear this has been retconned.
The official Star Wars Databank has been updated with entries on two new ships introduced in Ahsoka, the Vesper and the Dawnbringer. According to the Databank, these two new vessels - which bear hallmarks of Mon Calamari design - were constructed at the start of the New Republic, a fleet built for the purpose of galactic defense. This is the fleet overseen by the New Republic Defense Committee, which Princess Leia Organa herself chairs. It seems the New Republic had a bigger fleet than had previously been believed.
